Professional Activities and Experience
Trained at Université Paris Diderot, Dr. Romano quickly stood out for her academic excellence, earning top honors from the medical school and ranking 71st out of more than 8,800 candidates in the French national residency examination.
After completing her general surgery residency, she specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery, supplemented by several university diplomas in hand surgery, microsurgery, and oncologic breast surgery. During her three years at Gustave Roussy, she deepened her expertise in breast reconstruction, both from a technical and scientific perspective.
Driven by a strong desire for innovation, she pursued a Master’s in biomedical research at Harvard University, based at Massachusetts General Hospital, focusing on decellularized tissue-based reconstruction. Her research on thermal burn wound healing also earned her several research fellowships.
Deeply committed to education and knowledge-sharing, Dr. Romano co-founded a breast reconstruction Masterclass in Ouagadougou in 2023, in partnership with Prof. Nayi ZONGO and Gustave Roussy, aimed at training young surgeons from West Africa in breast surgery.
In parallel with her surgical work, she is also trained in aesthetic medicine and periorbital aesthetic surgery, offering her patients customized solutions that combine technical precision, gentleness, and natural results.
Dr. Romano is the author of numerous scientific publications, particularly on breast reconstruction, gender reassignment surgery, and complex flap techniques. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and plays an active role in the ongoing evolution of reconstructive surgical techniques.
